Pension change notices for December are now available in Online Services. Notices are available online only, but may be printed from your account. This notice will only be added to your account if there has been a change in your net monthly pension payment.

To view your notice, register for or log in to your Online Services account and choose “My TRAF Documents.”

Holiday hours – Winter holidays

December 16, 2024

TRAF will be closed from Tuesday, December 24 at noon to Thursday, December 26 for winter holidays, and will re-open at 8 a.m. on Friday, December 27. In addition, the office will be closed on Wednesday, January 1.

Annual statements now available

November 28, 2024

2024 annual statements are now available through Online Services.

Your annual statement provides important information such as when you are eligible to apply for your pension, projected gross monthly pension estimates, your termination benefit and your pre-retirement survivor’s benefit. It also confirms your beneficiary designation in the event you pass away before your pension begins.

Canada Post strike information

November 18, 2024

Due to a labour dispute between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), Canada Post has shut down operations until the dispute is resolved. As a result, Canada Post has indicated that its customers will experience delays in mail delivery.

Pension payments and cheques

  • Pension payments made through direct deposit are unaffected and will continue as usual.
  • November pension payments made by cheque will be held in our office and will be available for pickup during business hours. We encourage pensioners to sign up for direct deposit to ensure uninterrupted future pension payments.
  • Other individual cheques payable to an individual or to a financial institution may be impacted. We will work directly with those who may be impacted.
  • If you need to make a payment (e.g., for a service purchase), we recommend dropping off the cheque(s) at our office, if feasible.

Documents and other correspondence

  • Documents, correspondence and applications can be sent and received securely through Online Services, our secure member portal. We encourage you to register for Online Services and ensure your email, phone number and address are up to date.
  • Time-sensitive correspondence will be delivered through Online Services where feasible. We will work with affected members as applicable.
  • Alternatively, correspondence can be faxed to 204-944-0361 or dropped off or picked up at our office during business hours Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you are picking up a cheque or a document at our office, please call us to make arrangements in advance to ensure your item is ready when you arrive. Government-issued photo identification must be presented before items will be released to you.

2023 investment return

April 24, 2024

In 2023, the TRAF investment portfolio generated a return of 8.34% net of investment expenses, compared to the benchmark return of 9.29%. Longer-term returns remain well above our benchmark, having generated 0.72% in additional return over the past 20 years. 2024 cost of living adjustment

March 22, 2024

Effective July 1, 2024, TRAF will grant a cost of living adjustment (COLA) of 2.20% to eligible members receiving a TRAF pension.
